World Heritage Media Workshop, May 2008
The University of Bergen and Norwegian Research Council have funded Dr. Bert de Vries, director of the Umm el-Jimal project, as a member of the ongoing Global Moments in the Levant project. This collaborative, interdisciplinary effort of scholars and researchers seeks to understand the history and peoples of what is now Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Israel.
In May 2008 the Global Moments program conducted a World Heritage Media Workshop in order to explore aspects of content, access, and funding of digital media in cultural heritage. This ongoing conversation will help research projects like Umm el-Jimal better plan and deliver fascinating discoveries to a worldwide audience through Internet and mobile technologies.
