Welcome to ummeljimal.org. While a significant amount of content is already available, the Umm el-Jimal project is currently working on major additions to the web site, including a comprehensive image and data Archive, a growing digital Library, and UJ Recontructed—an evidence-based reconstruction of what Umm el-Jimal could have looked like during the height of its growth as a Byzantine town of the 5th-6th centuries AD. Other projects are also underway, including research and work with the town’s modern Community and Museum-based educational initiatives.

We understand that with all the construction, there are bound to be a few snags. For example, links to pages that do not yet have content are not active. However, while the site is designed to require only a standard web browser to run properly, please let us know via Feedback if there is something broken, missing, or that doesn’t quite work as well as it should. While we’re excited about this rapid growth, we don’t want to lose any details along the way.
